V2V Practitioner Standards

Code of Ethics

Executive Summary

This Code reflects the aspired state of professionalism and core professional values we strive for. The global nature of our community reminds us that what we believe from our own ethical standpoint may not be the case in other cultures. Our Code helps us navigate a changing world, where practice is increasingly professionalised and supported by digital technologies, data science, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). We face these responsibilities in a world navigating significant climate and biodiversity challenges, and where social inequalities and prejudice still impact individual experiences.

All licensed V2V practitioners agree to follow the elements and principles of this Code of Ethics as part of their certification. We use them as the basis for professional conduct, reflective discussion, and quality standards. Adhering to this Code takes lasting self-work throughout our personal and professional lives to promote the development of professional excellence.

This Code functions as an independent governance framework. It explicitly relies on the individual client Scope of Practice & Working Agreement to serve as the binding contract that details specific operational execution, session metrics, customised service spaces, and commercial terms for each engagement.

Section 1: Core Values, Ethical Principles, Standards of Conduct & Excellent Practice

Our ethics are built directly around the core principles of the V2V methodology. These are the behavioural principles required to successfully build a healthy business that supports a leader's life, rather than a life that serves the business.

1.1 Personal Ambition First

Personal ambition precedes business strategy.

The client's long-term personal vision, health, relationships, and personal boundaries form the absolute baseline of all business strategy work.

Ethical Standard

This principle governs both the client's destination and the practitioner's operational boundaries. The practitioner must consistently prioritise the client's stated personal goals over generic business expansion milestones, never recommending or pressuring a business owner into choices that actively damage their well-being, health, or family time. Simultaneously, the practitioner must model the integrity of this principle by practicing sustainable workload management and respecting their own personal boundaries, ensuring they maintain the self-awareness and professional capacity required to support their clients safely and effectively.

Measurable Behaviours, Conduct & Safeguards

  • •I aim to support the client's best interest, personal parameters, and cultural identity.
  • •I thrive on navigating clients through their unique seasons of personal change and leadership transition.
  • •I encourage the client or sponsor to terminate the engagement if it is believed that the client would be better served by a different form of professional help or clinical intervention.
  • •I respect the client's right to end the engagement at any point in the process, subject to the provisions of the signed Scope of Practice contract.
  • •If strategic work exposes deep emotional distress, severe trauma-based paralysis, or acute mental health crises, I am ethically required to halt the session immediately.
  • •I will supportively pause the business engagement in a manner that respects the safety provisions of the Scope of Practice, requiring that the client establish care with a licensed mental health clinician or doctor before safely resuming any strategic business building.
  • •I will maintain the appropriate self-awareness regarding my professional capacity. If I am unexpectedly unable to practice safely for health reasons, I will seek professional support or temporarily pause practice to safeguard the client's container.

1.2 Aligned Action

Ensure actions align with vision.

Every strategic change, system adjustment, and business decision must be anchored in clear data, metrics, and objective reality.

Ethical Standard

This principle applies equally to the client's operational tracking and the practitioner's professional standards. The practitioner is ethically bound to hold up an unclouded, unbiased neutral mirror, prioritising business data, workflow tracking, and structural truth over temporary conversational comfort. They will never validate comfortable excuses, ignore visible inefficiencies, or encourage guesswork out of convenience. Mirroring this focus on objective alignment, the practitioner must systematically evaluate the relevance and quality of their own work, anchoring their commercial contracts in transparent, pre-negotiated Scope of Practice agreements.

Measurable Behaviours, Conduct & Safeguards

  • •I act with honesty, fairness, and consistency in all professional interactions.
  • •I approach each strategy session with an open mind, tracking objective reality over assumption.
  • •I ensure that before services begin, the specific boundaries of the engagement, including custom services, fees, cancellation protocols, and exact communication channels, are explicitly documented and executed within a formal Scope of Practice agreement.
  • •I use my professional knowledge and experience to understand client expectations, reach an agreement on how to meet them, and take into account the needs of relevant organisational stakeholders.
  • •I systematically reflect on and evaluate the quality and relevance of my work through feedback from clients, sponsors, and stakeholders to continuously improve my practice and strategic insight.

1.3 Growth Mindset

Cultivate resilience through growth mindset.

Absolute transparency, vulnerability, and a continuous willingness to look at and work through personal and professional blind spots are required to grow as a leader.

Ethical Standard

This principle shapes the development of both the client and the practitioner. The practitioner must cultivate a safe, high-trust environment that instils commercial resilience, allowing clients to openly share operational flaws and performance data while supportively challenging their mindset ceilings, micromanagement habits, and behavioural resistance, while maintaining the professional stance required to disrupt defensive thinking. To effectively foster this growth in others, the practitioner must actively engage in continuous personal development and regular supervision, willingly exposing and working through their own professional blind spots, limitations, and ethical dilemmas.

Measurable Behaviours, Conduct & Safeguards

  • •I aim to help the client grow through each professional interaction, creating an open space for true innovation.
  • •I understand that to adhere to this Code takes lasting self-work, which I commit to continue throughout my personal and professional life.
  • •I ensure that the duration of the work is appropriate to achieve agreed goals, and actively promote the client's independence, self-reliance, and sense of empowerment.
  • •I develop my capabilities by participating in sustainable, creative, and future-focused continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
  • •I systematically discuss any ethical dilemmas, potential or actual breaches of this Code, or business model blind spots within my supervision space or peer group for guidance.

1.4 Challenge Ambiguity

Drive clarity in coaching conversations.

Vague concepts, unverified reporting, and loose timelines have no place in a well-run business.

Ethical Standard

This principle demands an uncompromising commitment to digging deep to uncover specific strategic truths. The practitioner is ethically required to challenge any ambiguity, assumptions, or loose timelines within the client's plans, pushing them past superficial updates to uncover highly specific operational details and structured goals. To perform this role with integrity, the practitioner must apply the same rigour to their own professional stance, maintaining clear competency boundaries, using explicit markers to separate coaching from advisory modes, and ensuring no ambiguity exists around their own professional qualifications and limits.

Measurable Behaviours, Conduct & Safeguards

  • •I actively listen and choose to act ethically by directly clarifying situations that constitute an ambiguity trap or an ethical dilemma, even when it feels uncomfortable.
  • •I acknowledge each session has a unique identity and richness that requires sharp, focused attention.
  • •When combining specialised advisory or consulting services with the core V2V framework, I will ensure these spaces are explicitly listed under the customised inclusions of the client's Scope of Practice. I will use explicit verbal markers during sessions to notify the client when I am switching from a reflective coaching stance into a consulting stance, and when I am returning to the core container.
  • •I operate within the limit of my professional competence and will refer the client to a more experienced or suitably qualified practising practitioner where appropriate.

1.5 Focus on Pace and Value

Prioritise speed of value delivery.

Time is a non-renewable, essential asset that must be guarded and maximised with absolute intentionality.

Ethical Standard

This principle governs the strategic rhythm of the engagement and the efficiency of the delivery route. The practitioner must carefully balance guiding the client toward the most effective path to growth with an uncompromised commitment to pace over reckless speed. This ensures the delivery container prioritises sustainable momentum, tracking the quickest but most secure route to the value desired without risking structural collapse. To model this balanced environment, the practitioner must respect the structural communication timelines established in the client's signed Scope of Practice and maintain clear continuity protocols to prevent unforeseen operational disruptions from slowing the client's progress.

Measurable Behaviours, Conduct & Safeguards

  • •I aim to make a useful and meaningful contribution to the sectors in which I practice.
  • •I value individual uniqueness and creativity, supporting collaborative action to meet developmental needs effectively.
  • •I have clear service continuity and practice management plans in place for both unexpected changes and planned termination of practice. This includes operational guidelines if I am suddenly unable to complete an engagement through sudden physical or mental incapacitation or unexpected death, as well as provisions for the secure transfer of current clients and their records in the event of a planned closure, such as through retirement.

1.6 Principled

Anchor every engagement in fairness and integrity.

The entire engagement is anchored in absolute fairness, human equity, integrity, and dignity.

Ethical Standard

This principle defines the practitioner's internal standard of conduct, requiring a complete, one-way commitment to absolute fairness, personal integrity, and transparency. The practitioner is individually accountable for maintaining a peer-to-peer partnership of total equality, entirely free from discrimination, prejudice, or conflict of interest. They are solely responsible for practising deep self-awareness to eliminate implicit bias, manage client data securely, and uphold the reputation of the profession, regardless of the client's background or corporate status.

Measurable Behaviours, Conduct & Safeguards

  • •I genuinely value you, treat your personality with dignity, and value everyone equally.
  • •I bring my whole self into the session while strictly respecting professional boundaries, ensuring my practice never crosses into counselling, psychotherapy, or medical intervention.
  • •I will accurately represent my professional qualifications, framework certifications, and specific areas of background expertise (such as accountancy, technical operations, or marketing analysis).
  • •I ensure that no false or misleading claims are made, or implied, about my professional competence, qualifications, or certification in any published or promotional material. I always attribute ownership of work, ideas, and materials of others to the originator and do not claim it as my own.
  • •To protect the absolute objectivity of the strategic guidance, I will set clear professional boundaries and avoid blurring the line into personal friendships, social dependencies, or secondary joint business ventures with active clients.
  • •I strictly avoid pursuing and refrain from engaging in any romantic or sexual relationships with current clients, learners, or sponsors.
  • •I will not exploit the professional relationship for inappropriate financial or non-financial advantage, nor use the client's data without their explicit consent.
  • •I will not accept or solicit kickbacks, referral fees, or financial bonuses from third-party software vendors or service providers recommended during the active term of the engagement.
  • •I remain vigilant about potential conflicts of interest of either a commercial or personal nature arising through the working relationship and address them quickly and effectively. If a conflict arises that cannot be managed effectively, I will agree to withdraw from the relationship.
  • •I behave in a way that always enhances the positive reputation of a professional service, ensuring that the use of technology aligns with professional and legal standards, including the diverse, ethically informed approaches to strategy and reflection, data technologies, and AI.
  • •I hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance to cover my work for the countries in which I operate, where such indemnity insurance is available.
  • •I accept that any breach of this Code that is upheld in a formal review procedure may result in sanctions, including loss of certified status. I will challenge another practitioner if I have reasonable cause to believe that person is acting in an unethical manner.
  • •I will maintain the strictest level of confidentiality regarding all client data, strategic insights, operational layouts, records, and personal reflections shared within this container.
  • •I will never expose, share, or reference a client's business data, communications, or personal information outside the container without explicit, advance written permission, unless strictly required by law (such as a valid court order or subpoena) or where it is deemed necessary to inform the appropriate authorities to protect the immediate safety and safeguarding of the client or others.
  • •All digital records, extraction sheets, and workflow roadmaps must be stored and disposed of in a highly secure, data-compliant manner that respects regional privacy regulations and the privacy terms of the Scope of Practice.
  • •I will inform clients that I am receiving professional supervision or peer reflective practice, identifying that the client may be referred to anonymously in this context, and assuring them that the supervision relationship itself is completely confidential.
  • •If the client is a child or a vulnerable adult, I will make arrangements with the client's sponsors or guardians to ensure an appropriate level of confidentiality and safeguarding boundaries in the interest of the client, while complying with all relevant legislation and safeguarding practices.
  • •I am expected to engage regularly in ongoing professional supervision or peer reflective practice with a level of frequency that is appropriate to my volume of work, ensuring that any other existing relationship within the supervision space does not interfere with the quality and objectivity of the environment.
  • •I avoid knowingly discriminating on any grounds and actively seek to enhance my own awareness of possible areas for discrimination, systemic injustice, and implicit bias, including in my spoken, written, and non-verbal communication, or through the use of technology and inaccurate data.
  • •I challenge constructively and offer support to any colleagues, employees, service providers, and clients who are perceived to be discriminatory or unwilling to take responsibility for their behaviour and actions.
